One Big Difference

So one thing that I've noticed is INCREDIBLY different about living in NYC as opposed to anywhere else, is grocery shopping.

Gone are the days where I could just go to Walmart and browse and figure out what I want to buy and just take my time with my buggy and spend an hour or so in the store.

Near my apartment are two grocery stores, a Gristedes (which is the big 'chain' grocery store in NYC) and an Associated. Gristedes is more of the mainstream, obviously, and Associated is the discounted store that a lot of the struggling families will go to to buy in bulk. I've made trips to each and let me tell you, it was a quest.

First off, the grocery stores are TINY. You can't get two buggies down an aisle next to each other, so if you have one and you run into someone in the aisle you have to back back out and go around! I've taken to carrying a basket instead, heavy but much easier! They're also ALWAYS packed with people, no matter when you go. I've gone in the morning, afternoon, and once at about 11pm b/c I needed popcorn! Not only are they crowded, but people are in such a hurry (as they are around the rest of the city) and most people are pushing kids in strollers in the store, and it's just chaos.

But, I survived both trips (Associated is actually smaller and MUCH less organized than Gristedes, but it's cheaper so I go there when I need a lot of stuff) and now I have food! I'm going to be going again tomorrow b/c I need to replenish.

Nothing all that exciting has really gone on this week, well that's a lie. This Sunday was the closing night of the msuical I've been working on the past couple months. It was exciting, emotional, and crazy. It was the best night I've ever spent in the theatre (they got a combined total of about 20-30 minutes of standing ovations) and it'll take a long time for anything to top it...if anything ever does. We went on Sunday and then got to talk to the cast afterwards and had a great time.

Besides that I've just been sending out resumes and waiting to hear back on my job that I interviewed for. I should know something soon, as they said they'd be making a decision later this week. Hopefully it'll be something GOOD that I'll hear, if not it's just back to the drawing board I go!

New York, New York

So, I'm here!

It's been almost a week, and I still kind of feel like I'm on vacation. I'm sure THATS a feeling that will wear off within the next few days!

I've gotten a bit of a nasty cold from the drastic weather change from Tampa to here. It's been in the mid/low 60s during the day and in the 40s at night, so my body just isn't used to it yet and it kind of freaked out on me. But I'm doing better today, my voice sounds a lot better today so that's good.

I have my final interview for a job on Thursday, so hopefully that'll work out. It's for a Marketing Assistant position with SpotCo (the biggest theatrical marketing company in NYC), it'd be an amazing job but I'm trying not to get too excited for it!

I'm working on getting the place cleaned up to take some more pictures of my apartment/the area around my apartment so you guys can see it!

Miss and love you all!

The First Post!

So I started this blog so that my family could keep up with my NYC adventures more easily, since I'm a pretty difficult person to get on the phone.

Anyway, enjoy!
